Pandora's Box

If someone offered you a box with everything you’ve lost What’s the first thing you’re looking for?
Most will reach for something they adored
Like items fabricate our emotional adorn
Materialism playing us as pawns
In this world of capitalism we binge back and forth
As we hoard… but not for the item itself
We fail to acknowledge that connotations bear the true wealth

If you’re offered a box with everything you’ve lost
Is it an object that you’re looking for?
Or is it pieces of your soul scattered across tainted chapters that have closed?
That left parts of your heart bitter and cold
The Devil can seek out minds that have decomposed
As you cuss and you groan
With memories our hearts encode
Our thoughts are bestowed with narratives foretold
That traps our minds in an endless night
Where the darkness engulfs the spirits of light
Until our memories are trapped and we lose our foresight

If you’re offered a box with everything you’ve lost
Do you bite your lip and clench your fists praying for the good without the bad?
So that our thoughts may not be hindered
Because the good helps us rekindle but the bad serves as a reminder the chaos that has subsided
Because we wish for what we want
But never for what’s in front of us
Thus excluding it for what’s convenient hoping for reality to adjust
Like an Alchemist playing God with potions and spells
Humans naivete create their own hell

I write about the absolution of love and the dissolution of the soul.
